Prof. Baker was Elected as the Distinguished Fellow of IETI (International Engineering and Technology Institute)
On March 15, 2022, the International Engineering and Technology Institute (IETI) has elected 40 new fellows, announced by IETI election committee.
Prof. Baker was Elected as the Distinguished Fellow of IETI.
Now, IETI has 6 Nobel Prize Laureates, 2 Turing Award Laureates, 1 Fields Medal Laureate, 3 Wolf Prize Laureates. It has two brother organizations: the International Research Institute of Economic Management (IRIEM, led by 2 Nobel Prize Laureates in Economics) and the Institute of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (IDSAI). IETI takes engineering and science application, technology and science innovations, and sustainable social science as its goals; chooses general education as its vision to promote the coordinated development of natural sciences, engineering sciences, and social sciences.
In 2022, the latest list of Fellows of IETI were nominated and voted by the previous fellows. These scholars have had a great international influence, ranking in no particular order.

Research Assessment (RAE) results 2020
(UoA 40 - physical education, sport, recreation & physical activities)
The Department of Sport Physical Education and Health (SPEH) has achieved a remarkable result in the 2020 Research Assessment exercise (RAE) which was released on May 24th, 2021. Our department was assessed in the Physical Education, Sport, Recreation and Physical activities Unit of Assessment (UOA) and was ranked Number one in Hong Kong. This was a significant improvement from the previous exercise in 2014. Overall, 6% of the work was judged to be World leading, with a further 63% judged to be Internationally excellent. In addition, our research impact was also judged to be Internationally excellent. There were 9 staff submitted into the 2014 exercise with 14 submitted in 2020, which was a significant increase.
“This result was a fantastic achievement by colleagues in SPEH. The results demonstrate the dedication and the excellent research undertaken by staff in the department. Further to this, the RAE classification underpins the strength and breadth of the research interests of staff, and include; Physical Activity and Health, Exercise Science, Sports Management, Children’s Health, Obesity, and Aged populations. The department now needs to develop and improve on this this success, and prepare for the next research exercise in 2026” said Professor Julien S Baker, Department Head of SPEH.

Prof. LAU Wing Chung delivered a presentation in the Education Info. Day hosted by Ming Pao newspaper
On 7th Nov, Ming Pao held the 2021 Education INFO DAY, around 1,000 people joined the event, including students, parents and teachers.
Prof. LAU Wing Chung was invited to deliver a presentation in the event. Prof. Lau introuduced the two main undergraduate programmes in our department, B.A. (Hons) in Physical Education & Recreation Management, and B.Soc.Sc. (Hons) in Sport and Recreation Leadership (SRL) . He also shared the requiments and notes on the application.

Prof. Baker participated in the 2021 ISMCFT as an invited Keynote speaker
On November 7, Prof. Baker participated in the 2021 International Symposium on Modern Cuisine and Food Technology as an invited Keynote speaker.
The conference was hosted by Wuhan Business University (WBU), organized by School of Food Technology, Wuhan Business University, supported by School of International Education, Wuhan Business University and IETI.

The 6th HKBU Elite Athletes Admission Scheme (EAAS) Scholarship Presentation Ceremony was held on 28 Oct 2021.
