2020.04.22 chanhoyuen4 Chan Ho Yuen as one of the ambassadors for Badminton World Federation (BWF)''s ''i am badminton'' awareness campaign Chan Ho Yuen as one of the ambassadors for Badminton World Federation (BWF)''s ''i am badminton'' awareness campaign 2019.04.03 20190403_woodball1 HKBU woodball team and basketball team excel at intervarsity competition The HKBU woodball team clinched the overall championship title and came second in both the men’s and women’s individual categories at the recent intercollegiate competition organised by the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong (USFHK). Cheung Tsz-wei (Sport and Recreation Leadership Year 2) came first in the women’s individual event and was named as the Most Valuable Player. Chu Chi-kwong (Physical Education and Recreation Management Year 4) also came second in the men’s individual event.   In addition, HKBU women’s basketball team won the first runner-up title in the USFHK event.   2019.03.18 20190318_volleyball2 HKBU women’s volleyball team wins historic championship The HKBU women’s volleyball team were recently named intercollegiate champion for the first time in 20 years. Having finished fifth for the past two years at the intercollegiate competition, which is organised by the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong, the team set the goal of breaking into the top four this year and worked hard to improve their training and tactics. In the final, the team beat their rivals from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University to clinch the championship title. 2018.12.04 20181204_Daniel Sports and Physical Education student wins gold medal at international para-badminton competition Daniel Chan (Physical Education and Recreation Management, Year 3) clinched a gold medal in the men’s singles at the Australia Para-Badminton International 2018. In a historic match, he beat the world number one, South Korean player Kim Jung-jun, in straight-sets.   Since his debut in 2010, Kim Jung-jun had won all his singles matches in international para-badminton, and as a result Daniel was extremely excited about his straight-sets victory in this competition. He said that he was well-prepared for the event and had the best performance on the court which enabled him to make this breakthrough. The result will also boost Daniel’s confidence as he works towards qualifying for the Tokyo Paralympic Games. 2018.11.01 20181101_fencing Physical Education student wins gold medal in Asian fencing competition HKBU student Chan Cheuk-him (Physical Education and Recreation Management, Year 4) has won a gold medal at the Akari Asian Under-23 fencing championships.   One of the awardees of the Elite Athlete Admission Scheme at HKBU, Cheuk-him represented Hong Kong as part of the Men’s saber team.   In the competition, the team beat Taiwan and Kazakhstan in quarter-final and semi-final respectively. In the final round, they beat the State of Kuwait to clinch the gold medal.
